I tried out the anti-spam utility built into the Nortons suite that I use, but it puts an annoying [SPAM] header into the email once it has tagged it. How do I get rid of that if I want to recover the email from the spam folder?

I haven't used Norton's anti-spam solution personally but most of these programs let you turn it off. NOD32 for example adds a message to each e-mail saying it's been scanned, but there is a setting to turn it off - thankfully :)

Ah, thanks for that. I hadn't noticed that setting. I have been using Spambayes which is free and works pretty well for me, but still requires me to filter the suspects folder quite a bit.

If you are designing a website the key is to move away from email for communication with your customers.

Use an interactive website for your customer communication. That way your customers don't have to sort through spam and phishing crap and you are sure they see your message.
